Massive Bronze Crows and Live Raptors Enchant Visitors at Laguna Beach Art Event
Laguna Beach recently hosted a bird-themed public art installation, featuring artist Jack Champion's "Attempted Murder" exhibit, which includes two massive bronze crow sculptures on display in front of City Hall until September 20. The installation was complemented by an educational event on August 1, where the Orange County Bird of Prey Center showcased live raptors and discussed bird conservation. Champion, inspired by his experiences at Burning Man, created the crow sculptures to challenge perspectives on birds, particularly crows. The city aims to highlight diverse art and conservation efforts through such temporary installations.

UCI Pediatrician Shares Key Tips for Boosting Your 7-Year-Old's Health
UCI Health pediatrician Dr. Melitza Cobham-Browne emphasizes the importance of healthy lifestyle habits for 7-year-olds, who are becoming more independent and curious. Key recommendations include:
limiting screen time to two hours daily
ensuring three balanced meals
incorporating at least one hour of physical activity
providing 9-12 hours of sleep
These habits are crucial for their mental and physical well-being. Dr. Cobham-Browne, a recognized expert in pediatrics, shares these insights in Parents magazine.
Understanding EKGs: Why This Simple Test is Crucial for Detecting Heart Issues
An electrocardiogram (EKG) is a quick, non-invasive test that records your heart's electrical activity, helping to diagnose issues like arrhythmias, heart attacks, and electrolyte imbalances. EKGs are recommended for symptoms like chest pain or dizziness, pre-existing heart conditions, family history of heart disease, or during routine check-ups. After the test, results are analyzed, and further tests or treatments may be suggested based on findings. Regular EKGs may be advised for ongoing heart monitoring.
