Regal’s “Musical Mayhem” series is bringing beloved musical movies back to the big screen throughout May, with a different film showing for one day only from May 1–31 for $4.99 per ticket. The month-long event also features family-friendly, kid-focused musical titles every weekend, offering affordable movie fun for all ages. Guests can check the lineup and purchase tickets online at Regal.
Join the Sweetgreen Grand Opening Celebration at University Center May 12–16

Sweetgreen is celebrating its grand opening at University Center from May 12–16 with several community events, giveaways, and local pop-ups.
The kickoff on Tuesday, May 12 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. includes a visit from Peter the Anteater, free entrées for the first 75 guests, exclusive Sweetgreen merchandise, and a complimentary candle with qualifying purchases while supplies last.
Additional events include a Cha for Tea and junk journaling pop-up on Thursday evening, May 14, and a mini-flea market with matcha from Aurelia Teas on Saturday, May 16.

Irvine Public Library makes printing easy whether you’re using a library computer or your own phone, tablet, or laptop through the secure Princh mobile printing system. You can print remotely or at any library location using the printer IDs: Heritage Park Library (112132), Katie Wheeler Library (112825), and University Park Library (112133).

Learn Tips for Healthy Aging at Irvine’s Free Bone Density & Fall Prevention Talk, May 15

The City of Irvine, in partnership with UCI Health, is hosting a free Bone Density and Fall Prevention Lecture on Friday, May 15, from 2–4 p.m. at Lakeview Senior Center. Attendees will hear from an Internal Medicine physician and two double board-certified Geriatric Medicine physicians about maintaining bone health, improving balance, and preventing falls. The event is geared toward older adults, caregivers, and anyone interested in healthy aging. Registration is available at yourirvine.org.

Experience Irvine’s Nighttime Wildlife on a Guided Hike and Owl Discovery Event

Join “Birds of the Night” at Bommer Canyon Preserve on Friday, May 22, from 6–8 p.m. This family-friendly evening hike will explore the world of owls, nighthawks, and other nocturnal birds through a 1.5-mile, level-2 guided adventure, followed by a hands-on owl pellet dissection activity.

Enjoy an Evening of Chamber Music With the Formosa Quartet at Irvine Barclay Theatre

The award-winning Formosa Quartet brings an evening of chamber music to Irvine Barclay Theatre on Tuesday, May 12 at 8 p.m. Presented by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, the concert features works by Shelley Washington, Wynton Marsalis, and more in a lively program celebrating American-inspired music and storytelling through strings.

Low-Cost Pet Vaccine & Microchip Clinic Set for May 26 in Irvine

The Irvine Animal Care Center is hosting a low-cost vaccine and microchipping clinic for pets on May 26 from 5:30–8:30 p.m. in the center’s parking lot. Hosted by HEART, the clinic offers affordable services to help keep pets healthy and protected. Reserve your spot at heart4pets.org.

UC Irvine Women Sweep Big West Heptathlon Podium

UC Irvine freshman Joy Anderson won the Big West heptathlon with a school-record and personal-best 5,740 points, leading the Anteaters to their first conference podium sweep in the event since 2015. Seniors Jolie Robinson and Jazzmine Davis finished second and third, while Zharia Taylor placed fourth, giving UCI 29 team points heading into the Big West Championships on May 15–16.

Irvine Valley Men’s Soccer Releases 2026 Schedule After OEC Title Run

After winning the 2025 Orange Empire Conference title, Irvine Valley College men’s soccer is heading into the 2026 season with matches against teams like Fresno City, Hartnell, Palomar, and Arizona Western before opening conference play at Santa Ana on Aug. 29. The Lasers are coming off a standout year led by MVP Cristian Sanchez, Offensive Player of the Year Armin Tehrani, and Coach of the Year Conor Ward.

Irvine Softball Rallies Past Rosary 6-5 to Claim Share of League Title

After starting the season 1-8, Irvine Vaqueros softball rallied to finish 8-2 in league play and earned a share of the Pacific Coast League title with a 6-5 win over Rosary Academy. Harper Vandermolen hit a key three-run home run, Carlee Lombardo closed out the win. Both teams are now headed to the CIF playoffs after being named co-champions.
