Voting Information: Procedures for Ballot Submission and Early Voting Before November 5th

Once you receive your ballot for the upcoming election, there are several methods available for casting your vote.

  • You may complete your ballot at home, sign the return envelope, and deposit it in any mailbox or at a secure Ballot Drop Box located throughout the city.

  • Alternatively, you can deliver your completed ballot to a post office or a designated Vote Center. Ballots must be postmarked or returned in person by November 5th.

  • Early in-person voting begins on October 26th at selected Vote Centers, with additional locations opening on November 2nd.

  • For those who have yet to register, California law permits same-day voter registration at any Vote Center, allowing you to register and vote simultaneously.

This election also marks a significant change as City Council members will be elected by district for the first time, following the decision made in the March primary election. Ensure your ballot is submitted by November 5th.

Irvine City Council Approves $500K Budget for Senior Mobile Home Park Repairs

The Irvine City Council approved a $500,000 budget on October 8 for the Meadows Resident Assistance Program, which will help repair units at The Meadows, a senior mobile home park managed by Jamboree Housing Corporation. Inspections in May 2024 revealed that most units needed minor repairs to meet safety regulations. While there was some debate, particularly from Councilmember Tammy Kim, who raised concerns about fund distribution, City Manager Oliver C. Chi assured the council that the program mirrors a successful past initiative. The budget passed unanimously, and repairs are expected to be completed by summer 2025.

Tips for Choosing the Right College from IUSD: Factors to Consider Before You Apply

As college application season kicks off, students face the challenge of selecting the right college. Key factors to consider include:

  • college size (small vs. large)

  • location (close to home or exploring new areas)

  • type (public vs. private)

Costs, including tuition and financial aid options, also play a significant role.

Additionally, review admission requirements, curriculum strengths in your major, honors programs, and campus facilities.

Extracurricular activities should align with your interests.

Ultimately, the best college is one where you can thrive, beyond just prestige or rankings. For more info on UCs, Cal States, and private schools, visit IUSD’s 4-Year College Information webpage.

Head Cold vs. Chest Cold: Key Differences and Effective Remedies

A head cold primarily affects the nose, throat, and head, causing symptoms like headaches, sore throat, runny nose, and coughing. It is usually mild and clears up within 10 days, though symptoms may last longer in people with weaker immune systems.

A chest cold (acute bronchitis), on the other hand, involves swelling of the airways and mucus accumulation in the lungs, leading to a mucus-producing cough that can take weeks to clear.

Both head and chest colds are caused by viruses that spread through contact or inhalation. Remedies for a head cold include staying hydrated, resting, using humidifiers, pain medication, nasal sprays, and saline drops. You should see a doctor if symptoms persist for more than 10 days or worsen with severe complications.
