Free Grocery Boxes Available at Great Park on July 9

The City of Irvine will offer free food boxes to eligible residents on Thursday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to noon at Great Park Parking Lot 2. Each household may receive one monthly box filled with fresh produce, vegetables, dairy products, and other nutritious staples while supplies last.
Woollett Aquatics Center Expansion Underway in Irvine

Construction has begun on a major expansion of the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. The project will add a new pool, splash pad, Ninja Cross obstacle course, locker rooms, bleachers, sports lighting, accessibility improvements, and a new parking lot along Walnut Avenue. The aquatics center and nearby facilities will stay open during construction, which is expected to continue through spring 2028. The upgrades aim to provide more recreation opportunities for residents and help Irvine host future regional, national, and international sporting events.
Join Solarize Irvine to Discover Solar, Battery Storage, and EV Charging Options, July 15

Join the free virtual Solarize Irvine workshop on Wednesday, July 15, from 7β8:15 p.m. to learn about solar energy, battery storage, EV charging, heat pumps, and group-discounted pricing options. Hosted by the nonprofit OC Goes Solar in partnership with the City of Irvine, the workshop will also cover new financing opportunities, including prepaid lease options that may help homeowners access 30% or more in upfront savings. The event is free and open to all residents.

Enjoy Summer Friday Nights at Tanaka Farms With Melon Tours and Market Fun

Tanaka Farms is hosting Sunset Melon Tasting Tours and the Melon Moon Market every Friday from July 17 through August 21. Melon tasting tours are offered at 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 p.m. Visitors can enjoy an evening of fresh melon tastings and shopping from local vendors.

Stay cool and make the most of summer by staying aware of the risks of extreme heat. Heat stroke is a serious condition that can happen quickly, but knowing the warning signs and taking a few simple precautions can help keep you and your loved ones safe all season long.
Heat Safety Tips
π§ Drink water regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty.
π If possible, limit outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
π Wear lightweight, breathable clothing and seek shade.
π§’ Use a hat and sunscreen when outside.
π Take breaks from the sun, even while swimming.
β οΈ Watch for dizziness, headache, nausea, or muscle cramps.
π Exercise during cooler morning or evening hours.
π Check on children, older adults, and neighbors during hot weather.

Irvine Annual Returns with Contemporary Art Exhibition, Opens July 11

The 42nd Irvine Annual juried exhibition opens Saturday, July 11, at the Irvine Fine Arts Center with a free artist reception from 2β4 p.m. Showcasing contemporary works by regional and national artists, the exhibition features painting, sculpture, photography, fiber, mixed media, and other innovative material-based practices. The exhibition will be on display through September 5.

A Happy Week at Irvine Animal Care Center: 17 Pets Adopted

The Irvine Animal Care Center celebrated another successful week from June 22β28, with 17 pets finding new homes, including eight dogs and nine cats. One tortoise was transferred to a rescue organization, while five dogs and three cats were reunited with their owners.
Residents interested in adopting can visit the center's website for adoption information and operating hours.

Three UC Irvine Tennis Players Shine on Pro Circuit with ATP Points and ITF Success
Three UC Irvine men's tennis players have earned ATP points on the 2026 ITF Tour. Recent graduates Noah Zamora and Hiroki Sakagawa, along with rising sophomore Alex Guajardo, have posted strong results this season, highlighted by tournament finals appearances, main-draw wins, and career milestones on the professional circuit.

Two Arrested After $3,000 Lululemon Theft at Irvine Spectrum

Irvine Police arrested two suspects in connection with a June 15 theft at Lululemon in Irvine Spectrum involving more than $3,000 in stolen clothing. Nasir Jandre Isles, 21, of Compton, and Zahkia Kamillah Ahmad, 23, of Gardena, were arrested in Carson on burglary charges. Detectives later recovered stolen merchandise from multiple Lululemon stores across Los Angeles County during a search of a Los Angeles apartment.
