IPD Conducts E-Bike Safety Enforcement in Turtle Rock and University Town Center

The Irvine Police Department continues to address e-bike safety through daily education and enforcement. During a recent operation in Turtle Rock and University Town Center, officers conducted 13 bike stops and issued 9 citations, offering first-time offenders the option to attend a bike safety course instead of paying a fine.
IPD reminds parents to monitor the e-devices their children use and ensure safe, respectful riding in the community.
Election Day in Irvine: Cast Your Vote in the Statewide Special Election Today

The Statewide Special Election is happening today, November 4, 2025, for Proposition 50 (Congressional Redistricting). All registered voters should have received their Vote-by-Mail ballots, and in-person voting is open at Vote Centers across Irvine.

Traffic Signal Maintenance on Bryan & Marketplace, Nov. 4

The City of Irvine will perform traffic signal maintenance at Bryan Avenue and Marketplace today, Tuesday, November 4, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. During this time, the signal will either be off or in red flash mode, so drivers are advised to use alternate routes and drive carefully.

Pretend City Children’s Museum will host a Shoe-Tying Clinic on November 21 at 11 a.m. at 29 Hubble, Irvine, in partnership with Nordstrom South Coast Plaza. This fun, hands-on class helps young children build confidence and fine motor skills as they learn to tie their first pair of shoes through playful, guided learning. A perfect step toward independence and early development!

Restoration Success: Irvine Ranch Sees Major Gains in Invasive Plant Control

Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks shared encouraging news about their ongoing fight against Stinkwort, a fast-spreading invasive plant that threatens native ecosystems. Since the Invasive Species Control program began in 2023, the team has seen a significant reduction in Stinkwort populations across multiple restoration sites this fall — a promising sign of progress toward maintaining healthy, thriving open spaces.

New Art Class for Kids: Explore Chinese Painting & Calligraphy This Fall

Adoption Joy in Irvine — 21 Pets Found Their Forever Homes This Week

From October 27 to November 2, the Irvine Animal Care Center found homes for:
4 dogs (Emmy, Love Bug, Tahini, Velma)
15 cats (including Alex, Boo, and Mocha)
1 hamster named Hamlet
1 turtle named Speedy
Two dogs, Opie and Casper, were transferred to rescue, and two others were reunited with their owners.

UCI Men’s Soccer Star Marcus Lee Named Big West Offensive Player of the Week

UC Irvine’s Marcus Lee earned the Big West Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two second-half goals within ten minutes to secure the team’s win over UC Riverside. This marks his second career honor, following last season’s Freshman of the Week award.

IVC Women’s Soccer Keeps Playoff Dreams Alive with 3–0 Victory

IVC women’s soccer won 3-0 to boost their record to 9-8 and stay in the playoff race. Kuuipo Laumatia helped score the first goal, added another herself, and Nikki MacDonald finished the game with one more.

Beckman Football Seals Lambda League Title with 21-14 Win Over Marina

Beckman High football clinched the outright Lambda League title with a 21-14 win over Marina on Friday night. Beckman finished 7-3 overall and 5-0 in league play to secure back-to-back CIF playoff appearances.

Five Arrested in $12K Irvine Storage Unit Burglary Investigation

Irvine Police detectives solved a major burglary case from October 7 involving a $12,000 theft from a storage unit on Construction Circle. Surveillance footage led to suspects Zachary Malloy of Huntington Beach and Catarina Rose Demelo of Artesia.
On October 28, Demelo was arrested in Stanton along with two others — Jenny Paredes Cortez and Leonardo Moreno — found in a stolen vehicle with narcotics.
Malloy was later arrested in Westminster, and a related search in Huntington Beach led to a fifth arrest, Harrison Gerrard Hoppin, on a narcotics warrant.
In total, five suspects were taken into custody during the operation.
