Luxury Senior Living Community, The James of Irvine, Breaks Ground for 2027 Opening

The James of Irvine, a luxury senior living community, recently broke ground on a 3.03-acre site on Gates Avenue, marking the area's first upscale rental-based senior community. The event drew 80+ attendees, including city officials and developers. Set to open in summer 2027, the eight-story complex will feature 350 studio, one- and two-bedroom residences for independent living, assisted living, and memory care, with modern amenities and a walkable lifestyle. Owned by the P3 Foundation, it is developed by Harbert South Bay Partners and managed by Momentum Senior Living, with additional partners handling design and construction.

Double the Gelato Delight: Bacio di Latte and Gelatissimo Open in Irvine

Bacio di Latte and Gelatissimo have both opened new locations in Irvine—Bacio di Latte at Irvine Spectrum Center and Gelatissimo at University Center.

  • Bacio di Latte, founded by two Milanese brothers, crafts “gelato puro” daily using traditional Italian recipes and locally sourced ingredients, including organic dairy from Sonoma County. Signature flavors include Pistacchio, Giandujotto, and 3 Cioccolati.

  • Meanwhile, Gelatissimo, started in Australia, brings its award-winning gelatos like Mango and Salted Macadamia Dulce de Leche to Irvine, with the local store run by Rey and Sarah Maninang, whose family has deep roots in the ice cream industry.

Manaao Thai Comfort Food Coming Soon to Irvine Spectrum Center

Manaao Thai Comfort Food is set to open soon at Irvine Spectrum Center (Suite 771), bringing authentic Thai comfort food to Orange County. Earn College Credits in High School! Join the Early College Program Info Night

Get a Head Start on College! IUSD, in partnership with Irvine Valley College, offers incoming 9th graders a chance to earn up to two years of transferable college credits while completing high school. This four-year program saves time and tuition, setting students up for success. Join the virtual info night on March 12 at 6 p.m. to learn more! Apply by April 15, 2025.

UC Irvine Men's Basketball Sets School Record with 14th Road Win in 97-88 Victory Over UCSB

UC Irvine secured a record-setting 14th road win with a 97-88 comeback victory over UC Santa Barbara, overcoming a 17-point deficit. The Anteaters dominated the second half, outscoring UCSB 67-45 on 74% shooting. Jurian Dixon led with a career-high 23 points, while Devin Tillis added 21 points and six rebounds. Justin Hohn was pivotal in the second half with 17 points and nine assists. UCI finished the regular season 27-5 (17-3 Big West), marking their best win total since 2018-19. With five straight wins, they now head into the Big West Championship as the No. 2 seed, playing next on March 14 at 8:30 PM.

IVC’s Jamie Eijpenn Commits to Whittier College Soccer

Irvine Valley sophomore men's soccer player Jamie Eijpenn has committed to NCAA Division III Whittier College. Over two seasons with the Lasers, he played in 32 matches, starting 17, and recorded one assist in 2023. Eijpenn contributed to IVC's 12-4-6 record and SoCal Regional playoffs appearance in 2023, followed by an 8-12-1 finish this past season. He now joins a Whittier College team competing in the SCIAC, which finished 6-7-3 overall and 4-7-1 in conference play last season.
