Simple Fall Safety Tips for Dog Owners

Fall is a great time to enjoy the outdoors with your dog, but seasonal changes can bring a few extra risks. Here are some simple safety tips for your autumn adventures:

  • Fleas & ticks: Continue year-round prevention, as parasites remain active in fall.

  • Dirty water: Don’t let your dog drink from puddles or standing water, which can contain harmful bacteria.

  • Wild animals: Watch for wildlife on trails or near your home.

  • Rodent poison: Keep your dog away from rodenticides around homes and yards.

  • Snakes: Stay alert on warm rocks and trails where snakes may be basking.

  • Night walks: Use a flashlight and reflective collar, leash or clothing.

  • Cold weather: Limit prolonged exposure to cold or wet conditions.
