Chamber Music OC: From Humble Beginnings to O.C.'s Premier Chamber Music Hub

Chamber Music OC, founded by violinist Iryna Krechkovsky and pianist Kevin Kwan Loucks, evolved from a small residency at Irvine’s Great Park into Orange County’s leading chamber music hub. The organization, now based in Lake Forest, offers performances, education, and community engagement, with a focus on chamber music—a genre celebrated for its intimate, collaborative nature. The 2024-25 season will feature jazz, master classes, and performances by top ensembles. Chamber Music OC is also dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians through its robust pre-college program.

UCI Health Achieves Gold Standard in Stroke Care Across Multiple Locations

Four UCI Health facilities, including UCI Medical Center, have received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award and the Stroke and Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll Awards. 4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Rattles South Pasadena; Tremors Felt in Irvine

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck 4 km from South Pasadena, California, on August 12, at 12:20 PM PDT. The quake was significant enough to be reviewed by a seismologist and generated reports from over 23,000 people who felt the tremor. Although the epicenter was near Highland Park, the earthquake was also felt slightly in Irvine.

California Athletes Strike Gold at 2024 Paris Olympics, Leading the Nation

California's athletes shined at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with 14 of them bringing home gold medals. Representing the state with the largest contingent of 145 participants, these athletes made a significant impact in various sports, from soccer and basketball to track and field, wrestling, and cycling. UC Irvine Volleyball's 2024 Season Packed with Thrilling Home Games and Big West Showdown

The UC Irvine women's volleyball team has announced its 2024 schedule, featuring the UCI/adidas Invitational, nine home conference matches, and hosting the Big West Championship at Bren Events Center. The season kicks off at the Lobo Invitational on August 30-31. Key events include the home debut at Crawford Hall during the UCI/adidas Invitational from September 5-8 and the competitive pre-season tournaments like the Buff Invitational. The Big West schedule begins on September 24, and UCI will conclude with the Big West Championship from November 27-30. Fans can purchase tickets for games held at both Crawford Court and Bren Events Center, with special group experiences available.
