Fresh & Fun Back-to-School Lunches

As school and work routines pick up again, packing lunch at home can be a simple way to enjoy fresher food and save money. These recipes from UCI Health are colorful, fun, and easy enough for kids to help with—making lunchtime something to look forward to.
DIY Lunchables – Mini pizzas or meat, cheese & cracker packs; kids can cut shapes and pack their own snacks. Prep ahead of time and keep fresh for a few days.
Rainbow Lunch Bowl – Brown rice, kale, cabbage, peppers, carrots, avocado, egg, and choice of protein, topped with cilantro yogurt drizzle.
Salsa Chicken Pitas & Fruit Skewers – Pitas filled with salsa chicken, beans, veggies & cheese, served with peach, grape, and blueberry skewers.

Help Restore Irvine’s Wildlands — Volunteer at the Native Seed Farm

Join the Growing Together at the Native Seed Farm on Saturday, Aug. 23. Help harvest, plant, and care for native plants that restore local habitats. No experience needed, just register in advance, wear proper attire, and bring water and sun protection. A hands-on way to give back to nature and learn about Irvine’s ecosystems.

Laugh and Paint: Join Bad Art Night on Aug. 26 at Heritage Park Library

Teens are invited to Bad Art Night on Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 6–7 PM at Heritage Park Library. No art skills are needed—just come ready for laughs and creativity as you make intentionally “bad” art. Walk-ins welcome while supplies last.
We will resume with the high school music calendar events when the schedule is available for the fall semester.
