Celebrate Irvine's 55th Anniversary at a homecoming-themed dance party on Saturday, August 8, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Great Park. Enjoy food and drinks, followed by an evening of music, dancing, and a community toast celebrating Irvine's past, present, and future. Everyone is invited to join the fun and make new memories with friends and neighbors.

Discover How You Can Volunteer at Citywide Serve Day 2026

Learn how you can get involved in making a difference at the Citywide Serve Day Info Session on Wednesday, August 12, at 3 p.m. Hosted in partnership with the City of Irvine, the session will explain how volunteers can participate in community service projects like park beautification, food drives, senior support, and more. Last year, over 750 volunteers completed 30 projects, and this year's Citywide Serve Day will take place on November 7. The info session is open to anyone interested, with no obligation to volunteer.

Getting Back to School: IUSD Shares Helpful Bike and E-Vehicle Safety Information

As the new school year approaches, IUSD encourages families to review its bicycle and e-vehicle safety guidelines to help students travel to and from school safely.

Key Reminders

  • 🚲 Elementary schools: Traditional bicycles are allowed (except for TK–2 students). E-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted.

  • ⚡ Middle & high schools: Students riding e-bikes must complete IUSD's Mandatory E-Vehicle Safety & Registration Program and obtain a campus permit before riding to school.

  • 🪖 Helmet required: All students riding bicycles or e-bikes must wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet.

  • 🛴 E-scooters: Not permitted on middle school campuses. California law also requires e-scooter riders to have a valid driver's license.

  • 📅 Safety presentations: Irvine Police Department presentations will be held from August 13 through September 8 at Irvine high school campuses for students who need an e-vehicle permit.

Discover Irvine's Scenic Trails on a Guided Bike Ride on Aug. 2

Join OC Parks on Sunday, August 2 from 7–10:30 a.m., for an intermediate 16-mile mountain bike ride through Irvine Ranch Open Space and Limestone Canyon Nature Preserve. The guided ride features scenic trails, panoramic views of Orange County and Catalina Island, a stop at the Sinks, and a mix of paved roads and singletrack with 2,200 feet of elevation gain.

Take the Stage at Irvine Barclay Theatre Through Arts in Irvine's New Community Program

Arts in Irvine is expanding community access to the Irvine Barclay Theatre by offering discounted rental opportunities for local artists, organizations, and independent producers. The program allows community-led theatre, dance, music, and multidisciplinary performances to be staged in a professional venue while supporting greater public access to Irvine’s cultural spaces.

UC Irvine Men's Water Polo Announces 2026 Schedule

UC Irvine men's water polo has unveiled its 2026 schedule, opening the season with the UCI Invitational on Aug. 28–29 before competing in tournaments, rivalry games, and Big West play throughout the fall. The Anteaters will host several home matches at Anteater Aquatics Complex, including UCLA, Navy, Cal State Fullerton, UC San Diego, Air Force, UC Santa Barbara, and Pacific, before ending the season at the Big West Championship on Nov. 20–22.

Irvine Police Arrest Suspect in Pharmacy Burglary Investigation

Irvine Police arrested a 32-year-old Culver City man in connection with two pharmacy burglaries that occurred within minutes of each other in Irvine this past May. Detectives identified the suspect through their investigation, linked him to a possible burglary in San Bernardino County, and arrested him after serving a search warrant at his apartment.
