Irvine Police Determine No Threat After Student Found With 3D-Printed Toy Gun

Irvine Police received a report about an elementary student appearing to carry a firearm in public. The Youth Services Unit, working with IUSD, found the student and determined the object was a non-functional 3D-printed toy gun. It was solid, lacked any moving parts, and posed no threat. No crime occurred, and officers, along with the school and family, counseled the student. A circulating screenshot of the toy raised concerns, but police confirmed there were no threats. Authorities thank the community for reporting and reaffirm their commitment to student safety.

Understanding Puppy Teething and Chewing: Facts and Tips

Puppies naturally use their mouths to explore their surroundings, especially during the teething stage. While this often results in unwanted chewing and biting, it’s a normal developmental phase. With proper guidance, owners can help their puppies form healthy habits and protect their dental health. Here’s a summary of key points about teething, chewing, and dental care:
Teething Timeline: Puppies begin teething around 3 weeks old and typically have all adult teeth by 6 months.
Chewing Behavior: Chewing relieves teething discomfort and helps puppies interact with the world. It’s especially common in “mouthy” breeds.
Toy Safety: Puppies should be given soft, bendable chew toys. Hard objects like bones, antlers, or nylon toys can damage teeth and should be avoided.
Retained Baby Teeth: Smaller and short-nosed breeds are prone to baby teeth that don’t fall out, which may require veterinary removal.
Discouraging Inappropriate Chewing: Owners should redirect chewing to toys, avoid rough play with hands, and keep tempting objects out of reach.
Chewing Duration: Most excessive chewing subsides by 18 months, though moderate chewing is a lifelong behavior for many dogs.
Dental Care Routine: Starting tooth brushing early with dog-safe products helps prevent future dental problems.
Veterinary guidance is recommended for toy selection, training strategies, and establishing a dental care routine.

Woodbridge Baseball Defeats Portola 14–3, Edges Closer to CIF Playoff Berth

Woodbridge High School's baseball team moved closer to clinching the final automatic CIF playoff spot with a 14–3 win over Portola during a special night game at Ryan Lemmon Stadium. Junior Vince DeMarco led on the mound with five strong innings and also contributed at the plate, helping the Warriors notch 18 hits. Despite the dominant win, Woodbridge must beat Portola again on Friday to secure fourth place outright due to a league tiebreaker formula. Portola can clinch the spot with a win, aiming for its first CIF appearance. Senior night was a big morale boost for Woodbridge, with standout performances from multiple players including Nolan Stottlemyer, Caden Camacho, and Henry Uhrik. Portola briefly rallied in the third but couldn’t overcome Woodbridge’s offense. The rematch will determine who advances.
