Mayor Farrah N. Khan Graces Punjabi Community's Annual Teeyan Celebration
Mayor Farrah N. Khan recently had the honor of participating in the annual Teeyan event alongside our local Punjabi community. Teeyan, also known regionally as the festival of Teej, is a traditional celebration observed across the Punjab regions of India and Pakistan. The festival heralds the arrival of the monsoon season, with a special emphasis on honoring daughters and sisters.
During the event, women come together to share poetic narratives through brief songs and dances, encapsulating the essence of familial bonds and the refreshing onset of the monsoon rains. This cultural festivity not only strengthens community ties but also showcases the rich cultural tapestry of the Punjab region.
