IUSD Takes Action Against Rainbow Fentanyl During Red Ribbon Week

IUSD is actively participating in Red Ribbon Week, focusing on mental health and addressing the rise of "rainbow fentanyl," a potent and dangerous drug disguised as candy or chalk. The district has implemented measures such as making naloxone available in schools, providing staff training on opioid overdoses, encouraging students to seek help, and offering various resources for substance abuse prevention and intervention. Parents are also guided on discussing substance abuse with their children using resources from SAMHSA and NIH-NIDA. The overall goal is to foster a safe, drug-free community and raise awareness about substance abuse and mental health.

Tax Deadline Extended to Nov 16 for Disaster-Affected Californians

The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) and IRS have extended the filing and payment deadline for 2022 taxes to November 16, 2023, for Californians affected by winter natural disasters in 55 counties. This extension applies to those who initially had an October 16, 2023, deadline. Affected taxpayers can claim disaster losses on their 2022 or 2023 returns, with potential for quicker refunds if claimed for 2022. To alert FTB, write the disaster's name on the tax return or follow software instructions for electronic filing. Contact FTB to abate any penalties received during the postponement period. FTB also offers free replacement copies of state returns for disaster victims. FTB plays a crucial role in collecting over 70% of California's general fund through various tax and non-tax programs. Visit taxes.ca.gov for more information on California taxes and fees.

Understanding Peptic Ulcers: Symptoms, Causes, and Effective Treatments

Peptic ulcers, often symptomless sores in the stomach or upper intestine, can cause severe stomach pain, especially when fasting or at night. The condition affects around 8 million people globally and is commonly caused by H. pylori bacteria or prolonged use of NSAIDs like aspirin. Risk factors include a history of H. pylori, NSAID use, certain lifestyle habits, and demographic factors. Untreated ulcers can lead to serious complications. Treatment varies based on the cause, often involving antibiotics, acid reducers, and lifestyle changes to prevent recurrence. Bruce Springsteen's tour postponement highlights the potential impact of the condition.

Unlock the Secrets of Woodbridge: A Community Where Nature and Neighbors Connect

Woodbridge is a walkable community where every home is within a 10-minute walk of parks, pools, or two central lakes, all connected by waterfront paths. This reflects a unique Master Plan vision for accessible, communal living, contrasting with other lake-centric villages that often restrict access. The โ€œwood bridgeโ€ spanning the lakes further facilitates connection among residents and to the natural beauty of the area.

Two men, Fred Douglas Woodberry IV and Willie Clarence Curry Jr from Texas, were arrested after a short chase in Tustin. They had a rented car with fake plates. Charges include attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. To avoid being a victim, conceal cash, be aware of surroundings, don't leave cash in vehicles, and call the police if followed.
