From Dirty Soda to Matcha, Irvine Welcomes More Drink Options

Orange Coast Soda Co. at Irvine Spectrum Center brings Utah-style “dirty sodas” to Irvine, mixing soda with flavored syrups, fruit juices, cream, cold foams and toppings. Founded by 20-year-old owners Justin Corey and Jonas Wixom, the shop offers signature drinks like Dr. Coconut and Cali Cooler, along with customizable creations.

For those looking to explore even more refreshing options, other newer drink spots include La La Land at Irvine Spectrum Center for specialty coffee and matcha, and Ubatuba Açai at University Park Center for smoothies and açai bowls.

Explore Irvine’s Boba Scene and Support Local Shops During Bobapalooza

Boba lovers can join Irvine’s Bobapalooza through October 17 and enjoy drinks from 11 participating shops around the city. Pick up a passport, make a purchase at each shop, and collect stamps along the way. Six stamps earn a Destination Irvine tote, while all 11 earn a tote, hat, and entry into a drawing for a free one-night stay at the Marriott Irvine Spectrum with parking and breakfast included. It’s a fun way to try new boba spots while supporting local businesses!

Play Hockey and Give Back at Irvine’s Never Far From Home Tournament

The Never Far From Home Irvine Roller Tournament is coming to The Rinks – Irvine Inline September 25–27 for a weekend of roller hockey and fundraising. Supporting Bone and Immune Health With Vitamin D

Vitamin D plays an important role in maintaining strong bones, supporting immune function and contributing to overall well-being. The body can produce vitamin D through sunlight exposure, while foods and supplements can help meet daily needs. For most adults, the recommended daily amount is 600 IU (15 mcg), increasing to 800 IU (20 mcg) for adults over 70.

Everyday sources of vitamin D include:

  • Fatty fish: Salmon, trout, mackerel, sardines and tuna are among the richest natural sources.

  • Eggs: Egg yolks provide vitamin D, with amounts varying depending on how chickens are raised and fed.

  • Mushrooms: One of the few natural plant-based sources of vitamin D, primarily vitamin D2.

  • Fortified foods: Milk, plant-based milks, yogurt, orange juice and breakfast cereals often have vitamin D added.

  • Other sources: Beef liver, ricotta cheese and cod liver oil can also provide vitamin D.

Helpful everyday tips:

  • Check nutrition labels to see whether milk, cereal, yogurt and other everyday foods are fortified with vitamin D.

  • Include fatty fish in meals when appropriate as a convenient natural source.

  • Pair vitamin D-rich foods with a balanced diet that provides adequate calcium to support bone health.

  • Supplements may be useful for some people, but excessive vitamin D can be harmful. Adults generally should not exceed 4,000 IU per day from all sources unless advised by a healthcare professional.

  • Persistent fatigue, bone discomfort or muscle weakness can have many causes. A healthcare provider can determine whether vitamin D testing or supplementation is appropriate.
