Irvine Company Plans to Replace Oak Creek Golf Course with New Residential Village

The Irvine Company announced plans to redevelop the 235-acre Oak Creek Golf Course and nearby commercial properties into a new residential village near the Irvine Spectrum District. The proposed neighborhood, located near Innovation Office Park and about a mile from the Great Park, will include both single-family homes and multifamily housing. The project aims to support Irvine’s efforts to meet state housing requirements.
Last Chance to Audition for Orange County Youth Symphony – Apply by May 14

Auditions for the 2025–26 Orange County Youth Symphony (OCYS) and String Ensemble (OCYSE) have been extended to Wednesday, May 14 at 11:59 PM PT. Open to student musicians in grades 5–13 across nearly 60 schools in Orange County, these programs promote orchestral music and school music participation.

UC Irvine Baseball Rallies to Defeat California Baptist 9–8

UC Irvine overcame a 6-0 deficit to defeat California Baptist 9-8 on Tuesday night at Totman Stadium. Key performances included Alonso Reyes going 4-for-4 with three RBIs, Colin Yeaman hitting his 13th homer to tie the game, and strong relief pitching from Danny Suarez, Jack Ross, and David Utagawa, who earned his first win. Anthony Martinez and Zach Fjelstad drove in late runs to give UCI the lead in the eighth, while Max Martin secured his 10th save. The Anteaters improved to 35-11 overall (20-4 Big West), finishing their midweek slate 7-3 and remaining undefeated (3-0) all-time vs. CBU. They next face Cal State Bakersfield on May 9 at 6:30 PM.

IVC Soccer's Isaiah Ponce Commits to UC Santa Cruz

Irvine Valley College men’s soccer standout Isaiah Ponce, a two-year starter and first team all-Orange Empire Conference player, has committed to play for NCAA Division III UC Santa Cruz while pursuing an engineering degree. A scholar-athlete and reliable holding midfielder, Ponce started 16 games this past season, helping lead IVC to a competitive 8-12-1 record. UC Santa Cruz, competing in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference, finished 6-2-9 last season and reached the C2C semifinals.
