A Legacy of Innovation and Philanthropy in Tech: Janie Tsao Elected as New Chairman of SCCCA for 2024-2025
Janie Tsao, newly elected Chairman of SCCCA for 2024-2025, co-founded Linksys in 1988 with her husband Victor Tsao in Irvine, starting in her brother's garage with $10,000. Their focus on affordable internet routers revolutionized home and small business internet usage, leading to Linksysโ induction into the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame in 2014. After selling Linksys for $500 million in 2005, the Tsaos founded the Tsao Family Foundation, supporting education, healthcare, and environmental projects. Janie, recognized by Inc. Magazine as "Entrepreneur of the Year," now leverages her vast experience to aid new immigrants and promote Chinese cultural heritage in the U.S. through her work with SCCCA.

Transform Your Health: Tips and Tricks to Overcome a Sedentary Lifestyle and Boost Well-Being
It is recommended that adults get 75-150 minutes of physical activity weekly, but many Americans fall short, leading to sedentary lifestyles linked to health issues like heart disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. If you spend most of your day sitting, you might be living a sedentary lifestyle, which also negatively impacts mental health. To overcome this,
set attainable goals
create an action plan
start with small steps
schedule activities
find an accountability partner
monitor progress
Benefits include improved cardiovascular health, weight management, muscular strength, mental health, energy levels, sleep, and cognitive function. For support, visit FCCMG clinics in Irvine, Fountain Valley, or Costa Mesa for personalized fitness plans.
Identifying Invasive Plants: IRC and Botanist James Bailey's Spring Survey Mission
Every spring, the Irvine Ranch Conservancy (IRC) conducts "Early Detection, Rapid Response" (EDRR) surveys to identify invasive plant species during the blooming season. With the help of botanist James Bailey from Hamilton Biological, IRC staff, and volunteers, they survey the Coastal and Central Reserves. Bailey records findings on CalFlora, a nonprofit database for California plants. These real-time recordings help IRC quickly create and implement plans to remove invasive species.
